A Blog and Pony Show

Good thing The Pony has been keeping me in blogging material! Of course, all it has cost him is a burned hand, a couple steaks, some Chinese food, and being unobservant.

A few days ago, The Pony found himself in a pickle.

As The Pony has previously mentioned, there's a reason the Post Office lingo is "throwing packages." They literally toss those boxes around when getting their routes ready for delivery. In this case, the box was already leaking when it became The Pony's responsibility. He knew what was in it, even before he and a supervisor opened it up.

Inside were six jars of pickles. Four of which were broken. The Pony said all six jars were bubble-wrapped together, with NOTHING IN BETWEEN THE JARS! Just glass-to-glass. Somebody at Amazon needs to learn how to take better care of the gherkins!

The Pony said the box had already leaked on other boxes, and he had to smell pickles all day. At least The Pony likes pickles.

  1. Somebody at Amazon needs to learn those packages all just get tossed around, no careful handling at all. Even here "Fragile" stickers are no longer available at the Post Offices. I got told "we just toss the packages into the baskets" and watched as he tossed a package I was mailing. For this reason I no longer send or order anything breakable.

    1. I guess nobody should expect to get their SPECIAL AWARD unbroken these days, like the dad in "A Christmas Story." They might get a BROKEN-Leg Lamp!

I doubt anybody at Amazon cares what happens to the package, once they've got their money for it and shipped it.

    1. I was trying to figure why someone would BUY pickles through the mail.

You can get them brought out to your car at Walmart with the curbside shopping. Maybe that's a new industry to tap into. A personal shopper who picks up curbside orders and delivers them to people's homes.

  3. Makes you scratch your head in wonder! Pack 6 jars together and shove them in a box. Then get a huge box with one small item and ten yards of brown paper ....

    1. I hate (I mean strongly dislike) that brown paper trick, but not as much as the styrofoam peanuts!
