The Dogs Must Be Recruiting Cats to Stalk The Pony

Poor Pony! He can't catch a break. Oops! I'd better be careful saying that. It was around this time last year that The Pony broke his ankle while working...

Anyhoo... as if being bitten by dogs wasn't trying enough, now The Pony has a new foe.

"Got scratched by a cat through a door slot today. The spot on my middle finger side is the actual one. The rest is from putting pressure on it, and it just dripping."

"You might get Cat Scratch Fever from it, but at least no rabies! One of my students got it, but she recovered."

No, The Pony wasn't using all those rubber bands on his wrist as a tourniquet. He slides them off the mail bundles as he delivers. That's one thing I don't miss from when The Pony was living here! All the rubber bands that he forgot to take off his wrist before leaving work.

  1. Poor Pony. Dadgum cat! The hazards of being a public servant.

    1. The Pony DOES invade the territory of assorted fleabags every day. But it's not like he was trying to steal catnip or a yarn ball!

  2. As long as he disinfects it soon enough he should be fine. Just push the mail through the flap without inserting your fingers from now on Pony.
I wish our mailmen did the same with rubber bands, thy mostly just drop them near the mailboxes and I pick them up to use later. There's always a need for a strong rubber band. Ours are red.

    1. I'm not sure if The Pony actually inserted his fingers through the slot. Poking the slot flap with the mail should be sufficient to open it and push the mail through. That kitty was probably waiting, batting at the mail as a daily game, and caught The Pony THIS TIME. I imagine he will be more careful at this house from now on!

I think The Pony might drop his rubber bands in a box in his vehicle when he accumulates too many, then take them back inside to be re-used. He sure had plenty left on his wrist that he forgot about at the end of the day. He started a rubber band ball here. I do enjoy having a rubber band available when I need it.

  3. That looks nasty. I am sure the cat was waiting and reached out to get his hand.

    1. Aside from feeding time, the mail delivery is probably the high point of that cat's day. So I'm sure he waits and takes advantage of such playtime to hunt his elusive prey: the hand that delivers the mail.
