The Irony of the Street

Remember how The Pony had that work vehicle Wednesday, with a damaged tire? The tire with the steel radial showing through the rubber? That Hick said could have caused a blowout at highway speed?

Perhaps The Pony should not have taken such a picture, and put that knowledge out into
The Universe.

He was assigned the same LLV (Long Life Vehicle) on Thursday. With the same tires.

The Pony had plans with a friend after work. He was thinking he'd get off around the same time he's been finished for the past couple weeks. But he got held up helping others, and was about 90 minutes later than usual when clocking out.

The Pony had driven about a mile from the post office when he heard a strange noise coming from his Nissan Rogue. He shoved around some of the junk he hauls in there, thinking that might have caused the rattling. Still the noise. About a mile later he arrived at his destination, and saw that

HIS RIGHT REAR TIRE WAS COMPLETELY FLAT!

I'm pretty sure that's a proper example of irony, served up by Even Steven on a silver platter.

    1. Yes, but when he is done GETTING even, he evens out the bad with the good. So The Pony might have something pleasant in his future. Probably not on Saturday, because snow is on the way!

  2. I know nothing in life is "fair" but honestly, that's just not fair! Poor Pony. I assume he had a spare or a donut to get home? Irony - yes. Even Steven? But why? Ranee (MN)

    1. I guess The Pony violated the first rule of Post Office Club by talking about those decrepit LLVs.

The Pony has a little air pump I gave him a couple Christmases ago, that plugs into his car, so he put 18 pounds of air in the tire. Then drove it over to Casey's more powerful air pump for more, then came straight home. It was about 10 miles. He said he heard the tire hissing when he got out at home.

  3. That's his own car not the LLV? oh dear. Irony indeed.

    1. Yes, his own car. Hick drove Pony to work Friday morning, then came home, aired up the tire with his compressor, and took it for fixing.

There was a hole in the tire, but no object stuck in it. They patched the tire on the inside. Cost $20. Hick said he went to Walmart first, where they charge $10, but they had a line, and he didn't want to wait.

Once it was fixed, Hick parked it at the post office for Pony to get when he clocked out, and I drove over there to bring Hick home to get SilverRedO.

  4. I'm never sure what really qualifies as irony, but that sounds like it to me.

    1. I'm still getting my irony sea-legs, but The Pony verified that this applies.

  5. At least Pony has Hick to take care of stuff like that. Pony actually leads a charmed life, he just doesn't know it!

    1. That is so true! Like I used to tell him, "Your life will never be any easier than it is right now."
