Nothing Much

Sorry I haven't been my scintillating self. I've been fighting a fever for four days. Plus nausea and dizziness. Got a Z-Pack from convenient care. Don't know if that is helping. Here's the deal.

Last Monday, I came down with some crud that Hick brought home. He breathed in my face and denied it. I was over this mild cold in four days. Fit as a fiddle by Thursday. However... The Pony was fighting some bug going around work. Felt bad Wednesday, Thursday, missed work Friday. Said he was blowing out bloody snot. Had all the signs of a head cold. Got over it by Sunday.

Saturday, I developed a stuffy nose, and blood-flecked green snot. Plus a fever of 100. Which went to 101 the next two days. So Monday evening I went to convenient care. They're not sure what's wrong with me. The worst part is the fever, which gives me chills. The constant nausea makes taking my regular meds complicated. Sometimes I have to sip water from a SPOON! The dizziness is a challenge, especially at night in the dark.

I don't have anything specifically wrong. Hardly any snot at all now. I can't get comfortable sitting, standing, lying, walking. Don't want to watch TV, don't want to blog, don't want to play Candy Crush, don't care to keep up to date on my conspiracy theories. It's just a general malaise, like my life is on hold. I don't even want to get scratchers! I haven't been down to my lair since Saturday. Genius is probably not getting a letter this week.

No updates on Pony House until I can get down to New Delly in my lair. I may or may not try to put something out here every day. I'm just not myself.

  1. Hopefully it's only a common cold and not the Covid but I suppose you were checked for that at the care center.

    1. She asked if I wanted a test, and I said, "Why, is there a treatment you'll give me if I have it?"

When she shrugged, I decided to bypass a long stick up my nose.

  2. Maybe a Covid test wouldn't be a bad idea. My sister-in-law has contracted it again, but she is immuno compromised and they do have some treatments available now. she was on the ventilator last time, but is not nearly as sick this time. Her symptoms are much like you describe.

    1. If I thought they'd prescribe some kind of treatment, I might have had the test. I think the Z-Pack is their go-to prescription.

  3. I'm going to be all mean and bitchy and say it still sounds like a covid variant to me. There are so many variants going around and this doesn't sound like a regular cold.
Now I'll be nice and hope you start feeling better very soon.

    1. I am surprised how many people "wish" I have THE VIRUS! What does it matter, since all they do is send you home and say to come back if you get worse? It's not like they prescribe a treatment for it.

    2. Not wishing it on you, but saying you should get tested for it just so you know, and then recovering grants you a little extra immunity.

    3. I know, but that's also the first thing Genius suggested when I sent him a text. As Hick says, "You ain't dyin'." The odds do seem to be in my favor. It's just taking so long to get over.

  4. Being at the hands of a cruel disease! Anything that has "snot" and that says something about no scratcher means that you are well and truly sick.

Feel like I should be collecting pennies in your name.

    1. Oh my gosh! I haven't given a single thought to my Future Pennyillionaire Fortune! I AM truly sick. I haven't left the house since Friday, I think. Pennies are out there waiting for me. Please gather them and give them a good home.

Pony even offered to bring me scratchers, but the thought of all the effort required to scratch them is daunting. So I declined the offer.

  5. Mrs. C tested positive a month or so ago. She was given a prescription for something I'd not heard of. Research showed that it would F-up your stomach and there was no research that showed any real promise of helping with Covid. She passed on it and recovered without stomach issues.

Her cousin had Covid early and was REALLY sick he was given Hydroxychloraquin (Sp) and it sped his recovery, probably a coincidence. There is a blogger I follow whose mother also used it and had the same coincidental reaction. I know they won't give anyone that stuff.

There are other therapeutics recently developed, but they have not made enough of them yet. Probably should have had them produced while undergoing trials like they did with the vaccine.

Just take it easy, watch your blood oxygen level and get better!

    1. Mrs C is very wise, and you should always defer to her common sense. Except that covering up a glass of water thing...

Yeah, I'm pretty sure HCQ will not be prescribed around here, despite such coincidental good outcomes. I really wanted doxycycline, which cured my double ear infection and got rid of my dizziness last time. I might have to go back on the weekend, and see if I can get a different NP who will give it to me.

I pretty much sleep a lot, drink water, pee, and stagger around holding onto furniture. The fever is problematic, since it's not going away. Though my Estranged BFF Google says it's a low grade fever, and nothing to worry about as long as it stays under 102.
