Pony House: Bathroom 2, the Bones

Hick was originally planning a half-bath for Bedroom 2, and a full bath for the rest of the house, taking up a section of the living room. The more he looked at the windowed area off  Bedroom 2, where he'd intended to make a closet/half bath, he thought he could fit in a shower as well.

I only have a couple of pictures, since I didn't walk into that room on my original tour.

This picture is taken across the enclosed back porch, leaning out the doorway with my back to the master bathroom, beside the future utility room. You can see the window that will remain in Bathroom 2. Hick plans for a toilet under that window, a corner shower by the framed wall and back wall, and a sink on the wall that's against the bedroom.

Here's the other view, across Bedroom 2:

I agree that a full bathroom is a better option for Bedroom 2 than a closet/half bath combo. Anybody living in that room will not have to traipse out to the main living area to bathe, but can have their own private shower. Not that The Pony is planning on a roommate, but for future rental or resale scenarios.

Today, Hick and The Pony are meeting for lunch, and browsing through Lowe's or Menard's afterwards, to measure jetted bathtubs and showers, and discuss prices and The Pony's preferences.

Hick is chomping at the bit (The Pony, not so much) to get "his people" into Pony House to check out heating and cooling options, and drywall estimates. As soon as he's sure of where the walls are going for sure, Hick will finish the wiring. He's already been fiddling with the windows, and needs some assistance with the back wall, since HOS (Hick's Oldest Son) has come down with a concussion, and is not currently available.

  1. I totally agree with a full bath as it will make two private suite areas and that is great for company and resale.

    1. Yes, that seems to be something people always want.

  2. The way he keeps changing things, he'd *better* get started on the actual work or it'll turn into Citizen Heart's castle in California.

    1. Is that like the heir to the Winchester rifle fortune, who had a house full of doors leading to nowhere? Supposedly she didn't want the ghosts killed by the rifles to be able to find her.

Hick discussed more changes with The Pony today. They ordered the bathroom fixtures, and he has some windows now, so maybe his idle hands will be busy enough to keep his mind occupied.

  3. I can almost picture the finished rooms.

    1. Me too! I was pleasantly surprised at how Hick House turned out. This one should follow suit.

  4. Full bath is the way to go for many reasons.

Hope HOS is ok. Concussions are nothing to fool around with.

    1. Privacy being the main reason!

Hick stopped by to see HOS today, and he says he'll be helping with Pony House tomorrow. Hick is picking him up at 8:00. They plan to put some siding on the back wall, where HOS tore off the old siding. Hick fixed the wall, and put a window in the master bathroom.

Genius had a concussion from ramming his head into a concrete-block wall during basketball practice. It took him a couple weeks to get back to normal. I hope HOS stays off a ladder for now. His concussion was from a fall (not at Pony House!), and hitting his head on the way down.

    1. The Pony seems excited about it. Or maybe he's just excited to be getting out of OUR house!

    2. And into his own house where he will soon find out the true cost of a nightly soak. Water and the heating of it don't come free.

    3. I told him he'll need to keep it clean, because nobody else is going to do it. The Pony said, "Well, I'll be the only one messing it up!" As IF around here the mess is not due to him, but to US!

I also said he could hire a cleaning lady, and The Pony said, "I don't make all that much money." Yeah. He's about to discover what he can do without, once the Bank of Hick and Val is closed.
