Val, the Charity Case Freeloading Stalker

We took a casino trip to Oklahoma this week. Hick and I lost our shirts. I’m surprised we didn’t get arrested for indecent exposure. Or that we weren’t walking around wearing only barrels held up by suspenders. Those slots were harsh. The Pony returned with a stack of cash, but he was still a loser. The Smallest Loser. I lost not-quite-half of the casino bankroll that I took along. Still, I had a great time winning before I played it back! I don't ride 5 sweaving hours in A-Cad with Hick just so I can sit in a hotel room. I'm there to play, by cracky!

Speaking of that hotel room... I had one free comp night at Downstream Casino when I called for reservations. So we were paying for the second night. But when I checked in, the gal said I had ANOTHER free comp night, did I want to use it? Sure, who knows when we'll be back? So we stayed for free, two nights. Good thing we went on the end of August and beginning of September!

The Pony and I were playing in the back corner of our third stop, High Winds Casino, when fortune smiled upon me. Oh, I didn’t win anything. But the gal sitting at the row behind me won the Hot Seat Drawing of $25 in free play. It was Two-Fer Tuesday, and she got to pick another person to also get $25 in free play. SHE PICKED ME!

How random is that? She told the worker with the clipboard, “Well, she’s right here. Let her have it.” Such a rousing recommendation! I thanked her a couple times. She got up and left pretty soon after that. I guess she thought she’d created some creepy stalker. Anyhoo… I didn’t win anything on that free play. But they DID announce my name along with hers! First names only. My new best friend.

    1. Up and down. That's how gambling goes. You never stay a loser or stay a winner. Though I seem to have more than my share of wins, and Hick more than his share of losses...

  2. We were just watching a Young Sheldon tv program and the characters played by Annie Potts and Reba McEntyre were on their way to a free room night in a casino. Reba asked Annie "How did you get a free room?"
Annie replied, "You lose enough, they give you a free room."

    1. Of course they do. I thought everybody knew that, even TV characters.

A casino is not a charity! They don't give anything away unless they can make a profit from it. Once they get you in the door, the odds are in their favor. The longer you stay, the more money they make (take)!

    1. Yes, she could have easily said, "I'm here alone, and don't have anybody to give it to."

The Pony was a bit miffed. "Huh. I was RIGHT HERE, only two seats away, and she could have given it to ME!"

It's fun to have a little getaway. We would have paid to stay those nights, but it's sweeter when you get them for free!

  4. $25 free play! That would last me almost 5 minutes. Actually at my usual 25 cents a play I might get an hour on a good day.

    1. I was low-rolling most of this trip, or I would have lost everything. Not 25-cents low, but 60 cents most of the time, maybe up to $1.50. Not my usual $2.40 on the multiple screens.

I played the leprechaun slot, and thought of you. Not that you're a leprechaun, of course, but you've mentioned playing that one. HE DIDN'T PAY ME! Hick sat down two slots away to play the similar Wild Americoin, with the little guy dressed like Uncle Sam, and won $40.
