Pickin' CENTS and Snappin' Pics

MONDAY, June 1, hopefully foreshadowed a generous month for Val's Future Pennyillionaire fortune. I had to go in Orb K for my 44 oz Diet Coke, since the Gas Station Chicken Store ran out on Sunday. Of course there was some construction shenanigans going on. A set of four gas pumps being installed, blocking part of the parking lot.

My favorite parking spot by the sidewalk ramp was taken. I considered turning around and making a not-so-magical elixir at home. But I came to my senses, and pulled into a space near the blocked area. Of course as soon as I did that, the cars between me and the building left!

The minute I opened T-Hoe's door, I knew I had made the right decision.

I saw a PENNY on the pavement! Stepping out, I also saw a DIME on the yellow parking line.

This was a 2003 dime, face down. I took its close-up first, because, well, it's a DIME! Then I dropped it in my shirt pocket, and turned to get my penny close-up, of the heads-up 1995 penny. And now here's the embarrassing part! I thought I was taking a close-up of my penny... but unfortunately, this is what I got!

To be fair, I was facing into the sun, and there was a glare on the face of my SamGalA. It sure LOOKED like I had a penny in the close-up. Until I got home and reviewed my pictures. The new love of my life and I are still not comfortable getting intimate with each other...

I didn't take my SamGalA in the store with me. I figured I'd be holding a 44 oz Polar Pop Diet Coke, and I didn't want to drop the new love of my life. Of course you know what happened! I stepped out of line to look at the scratcher selections. A farmer in overalls took my place. And when I lined up behind him, I saw a PENNY on the floor!

Here it is, a heads-up 2019 Lincoln, with a bit of a birthmark on his nose, posed in T-Hoe when I came out. I'm going to get it together one of these days. I'm out of penny-picture-practice, from my phone situation and the Stay-At-Home-Down.

TUESDAY, June 2, coming out of Walmart, I couldn't believe my eyes! Right there where I would see it was a PENNY! Waiting for me! When I haven't been to Walmart in weeks!

I let my ample rumpus wave in the breeze, hoping nobody felt like running over me while I photographed and harvested my specimen

It was a 1984 face-down penny, a bit tarnished, but so pretty against the white paint of the P in STOP.

That's 12 cents for the Future Pennyillionaire this week! A dime and two pennies.

  1. Maybe you should start a habit of going to places you don't usually go, because that's where the dimes are.

    1. AND maybe I should buy the scratchers that I don't usually like, because that's where the winners are! Since they haven't been on the scratchers I've bought lately.
