Miniature Equine Saves Lady From Drowning

A local college graduate saved a life Thursday.

As Pony Thevictorian prepared to dip his hooves into Poolio that afternoon, he saw a damsel in distress.

Usually a neigh-sayer when it comes to helping others, The Pony took responsibility and plucked the lady(bug) out of deep water, where her legs had no chance of hitting the bottom.

She appeared a bit red with embarrassment, but otherwise okay. There was no need for mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, nor chest compressions while chanting, "Out with the bad air, in with the good."

The rescued soon trundled off on her journey, none the worse for her almost-visit to Davy Jones's Locker.

The rescuer documented his good deed, and proceeded to roast himself almost to the color of the rescued.

  1. He helped voluntarily? There's a slight smudge to the reputation :) I hope he wore sunscreen while roasting himself.

    1. He only helped because it was a ladybug. No to the sunscreen. He got quite a burn several days ago, and has stayed inside until it subsided. Can't tell him anything! All those years I slathered him up with sunscreen until he was as slippery as a greased piglet, and now he won't rub the lotion on his skin!

  2. Men are stupid. there. He won't forget it any time soon.

Saving a ladybug is lucky. They are symbols of good luck in my cultures and countries.

    1. It's not like I expect him to stop and ask directions! Only to put on sunscreen before floating in Poolio for an hour!

Ladybugs started appearing around us a month after my mom died, in February 2016. She had a whole colony of them in the drop ceiling of her family room, and we teased her about vacuuming them with a Dustbuster, but not calling an exterminator. Seeing a ladybug reminds us of Mom.
