There was no big celebration here to ring in the New Year. Not even watching TV for the countdown in Times Square. It's 11:41 as I sit at the kitchen table typing on HIPPIE. I may or may not notice when the clock takes me from 2022 to 2023. Perhaps I'll hear fireworks going off, thanks to the denizens of Outer Backroads.
Hick went to bed at 8:30. I find that particularly annoying. Not because I had plans to celebrate the New Year by kissing him at the stroke of midnight. But because for the past three or four nights, he has STAYED UP UNTIL 11:00 just to annoy me! At least that's how it seems. Hick has always been an early retiree, but has recently stayed up watching Gunsmoke and subjecting me to the loud volume of the TV. I abhor Gunsmoke!
Anyhoo... Happy New Year to all of you.
I send best wishes for a happy, healthy and card scratching, casino prosperity year of joy and fun. I have enjoyed your blog and Hicks antics from this past year and I have no doubt, there will be much more to look forward to in 2023. Ranee (MN)ReplyDelete
Thanks! Wishing you a happy 2023 as well! I have no doubt Hick can keep me supplied with material...Delete
Happy New Year to you! I now what you mean about sleeping habits! I have listened to The Patient moan and groan in waking and sleeping hours. Yesterday was particularly bad. No, not his leg, his belly was what was aching. I think he is just hungry, but he refuses to eat. He is drinking plenty of water, though, so I am not concerned with anything other than my own displeasure. I warned him about the hydrocodone and constipation, but it all falls on deaf ears. Add to the pain medication, his refuals to get up and walk around is a double whammy. Last night I told him that I did not plan to spend my day today at his beck and call. His first complaint would end in a trip to the ER abd if he refused to get in the car I had no qualms about calling an ambulance. He must have believed me, because he says he feels so much better today. The day, however is young!ReplyDelete
Happy New Year to you and HeWho! Keep an eye on The Patient. Hick's friend This Guy, who sold us the $5000 house, had a problem with the painkiller constipation after his back surgery. I think he had to have a different surgery to remedy it! Maybe you can bottle your "threats" (like you bottled the vanilla stuff) and sell it to spouses of malingerers who like to complain!Delete
Is Gunsmoke on TV every single night for hours at a time? Are they replaying the replays? That could get annoying for sure. over here they're replaying The Big Bang Theory for about the fourth time.ReplyDelete
I didn't purposely stay awake to welcome the new year, but I was awake in bed when the fireworks began and soon after that the celebrating in the flat next-door-across-the-lobby hit a different note, with various young male persons upchucking until about 3am. I gave up trying to sleep and read my book until finally falling asleep about 5am.
When Gunsmoke is on, Hick can find it! Can find it like I find fallen pennies! It seems to be on two different channels on our DISH, from late afternoon until midnight. If he can't find Gunsmoke, he watches other '60s black and white westerns, like Cheyenne, Wagon Train, and The Rifleman.Delete
Here they're playing Friends over and over on two different stations. One in the morning, and one at night.
Good thing you had a book to read during the celebration and its aftermath!
We're getting Friends reruns too, in between the Big Bangs. I'd rather see The Rifleman, or Wagon Train. Even Cheyenne would be okay, I liked those enough as a child and haven't seen them since.Delete
I've never watched the Big Bangs, but I DO like Young Sheldon.Delete
Oh! Happy New Year!!ReplyDelete
Happy New Year to you, too! Although I realize I'm a day late for your time zone!Delete
My husband used to do the late night TV thing, but our year has made us decrepit. Happy NY to you both. My husband needs prayers. He will have prostrate surgery this week and we are pretty worn out. No winning cards? Dang.ReplyDelete
Happy New Year to you and your husband. I'm wishing him a successful surgery. In other news, I had a $100 scratcher winner on New Year's Day, on a $10 ticket.Delete
