Val Has Been Short-Slawed!

We ate Hick's birthday dinner in the restaurant of High Winds Casino in Miami, Oklahoma. Of course Hick had a steak with baked potato. And some sauteed vegetables.

The Pony had a steak with baked potato, too. And onion straws.

I had a Reuben, with fries. I also asked for a side order of slaw. I knew they had it. It was part of a pulled pork sandwich plate, being piled on top of the pulled pork. There was an extra charge, because a sandwich doesn't come with two sides. Fair enough. I expected that. What I did NOT expect was the size of my slaw portion!

That is SO NOT FAIR! I ordered a side of slaw. Not two pieces of slaw. The container is the same size as the one that held The Pony's butter! You can see it there on my plate, since I asked to use it, once empty of butter, to hold my ketchup. That is NOT a SIDE ORDER! A side order should be equivalent to whatever else you select from the sides. Hick's vegetables did not come in a tiny cup. I didn't get two fries in a tiny cup. A side is a side, especially when you're paying extra for it!

ONE BITE was half of my side order of slaw! That restaurant robbed me blinder than the casino!

  1. I see what is wrong with your side of slaw. What is wrong with your mouth? Did you not say something (nicely, politely) to get your grievance addressed?

How much did those two pieces of cabbage cost?

I would be tempted to send the casino a photo, along with an explanation, and see if they offer you a coupon for your next meal...

After all, the customer is always right.

    1. I did not want to call attention to my slaw shortage. You never know what extra ingredient might be included in a replacement.

I think the cost was either $1.80 or $2.25. I could have had a whole cabbage for that! I shall not complain to the casino. This ol' Val is not taking a change on being banned! Oklahoma casino regulations are whimsical at best. They can ban who they want, for whatever reason. Don't even have to report their payback percentages.

I'd rather keep my casino privileges, and not eat anything unfoodly, rather than be right!

    3. I saw a head of cabbage at Walmart for $1.74, and an organic head of cabbage for $2.52. Not sure where Walmart is hauling them in from.

  2. You could have complained and sent it back, but then you might have gotten a side order in your side order.

  3. I know you don't like to make a fuss, but in this case I think you need to. Even if you pretend to be someone else for the length of time it takes to get a decent size order of slaw. Be Vanessa for a while. I knew a Vanessa once who always made a fuss if her order wasn't exactly right.

    1. Did Vanessa ever get food poisoning after a fuss?

    1. The Reuben was very good. I'll have it again the next time we eat there, but I won't order a side of slaw!

  5. That looks like a sacrament cup, I hope it was blessed before it left the kitchen.

    1. I could not see into the kitchen, but I'm pretty sure it was not!
