Hick was happy as a pig in not-mud on Wednesday, back in his regular routine of eating lunch at the Senior Center. He can't just be one of the regular common people. He sits at the table with the workers! He said lunch was meatloaf, au gratin potatoes, broccoli/carrots/cauliflower, and cherry/peach crisp. He didn't rave about it.
The topic of conversation at Downtown Little Peyton Place was the recent actions of the interim mayor. According to Hick, last week she fired all the "young people" working for a certain city department, and said she would only hire "old people" from now on, because they have a better work ethic.
Heh, heh! Don't look at VAL to complain about something like that! I'm not saying she's right, but I UNDERSTAND. My opinion carries no weight anyway. It's not our town.
Hick has a different take on the situation: "That's a lawsuit waiting to happen."
Which just goes to show, Hick has a background working in the public sector, and not the pretend-world of a school district.
I don't care who you are or how good your intentions are .... there will always be those who do not agree with your agenda. Oh, and everybody wants to sue. Glad Hick is back on a schedule. Makes it easy for you to plan your day!

DeleteHick showed up at home before 1:00 today! I told him before long, he's going to return home before he even leaves! I want him back on a schedule. I was bamboozled again! He spent the morning working on the Double Hovel, then had a not-very-good lunch, he said. And came home to sleep in his recliner.
He's right : lawsuit time. Stupidity is rampant these days.

DeleteShe has a point, although not all old people have a better work ethic. Young people do have more social lives and are more likely to come in late, call in sick (because of a hangover?) etc. It depends on the ages of the young people, those still living at home being supported by parents are less likely to be committed to the job. Older people with independent children might be wanting to take things a bit easier too, and not work a full week. It's an either/or situation and she needs to be careful with who she chooses.

DeleteOne of Hick's cronies said that her daughter got a good job in Florida, and within a month was complaining that they expected her to work five days a week, eight hours a day! Which was pretty much the definition of a JOB back in olden times when I started working...
There is a famous bakery in town that can't get people to work, so they may close. This is unreal. My friend worked in fast food and said they hired anyone who walked in and asked for a job, because nobody understood the definition of work.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like The Pony's generation is all about getting paid, but not doing anything to earn it! And some from HOS's (Hick's Oldest Son) generation don't even care about getting paid, much less expending any effort. I don't know how people live these days.
