Considering that the Half Bath and Laundry Room did not even exist as rooms in the initial walk-through of Pony House, I'd say Hick did a fine job.
This little alcove was it, with that doorway (leading into the new Master Bath) blocked off.
There's Hick's buddy, framing the wall that will have the sliding door. The opposite wall of the hallway hasn't been built yet, but there's the back door.
The toilet is set in place, to see how the plumbing needs to go.
Here you can see the Half Bath location (toilet sitting sideways for some reason).
Extreme closeup of finished toilet in the Half Bath.
And the sink/mirror, which was completed before the toilet install.
And the unfinished sliding door, that now has barnwood-print stick-on paper to dress it up, plus metal hinge-looking hardware, which Hick is dragging his feet about completing.
Across from the Half Bath is the Laundry Room.
There's The Pony's new washer/dryer and water heater in the laundry room. They didn't give me a better picture.
TOMORROW: Bedroom 2
Will the laundry room have a better finish on the walls or is that the way it will stay? Is the dryer ducted to the outside so the room doesn't get all steamed up?
ReplyDeleteNope. It's just going to stay with the wood surface. The dryer will be vented to the outside. Hick is doing that part tomorrow. All he has to do is drill a hole and connect that big hose-thingy to it.
DeleteHe also needs to do some adjusting to leaky connections with a sink and toilet. Things you don't know until they're in use.
The laundry room is more than sufficient. In my younger days I was forced to endure the shared laundry facilities or laundramat. The Pony has no idea what a charmed life he leads! I have stackable machines, but there are bigger and on a small platform that I am sure has something to do with plumbing. Only problem is that I can barely reach the controls on the dryer!
ReplyDeleteThe Pony had planned on a separate washer and dryer. Then Hick bought a "bargain" too-fat water heater that would have made it tight quarters, with maybe an inch to spare. When they went furniture shopping, this stacking unit was all the furniture store had in stock. So The Pony, who didn't care much anyway, went this this unit.
DeleteKathy; can your dryer be installed upside down so the controls are easier to reach? Here in Australia, many people who hang their dryers on the wall have them upside down. Mine was like that until I learned from an irate upstairs neighour that the sound and vibrations travelled upwards, now my dryer sits on top of my washer.
ReplyDeleteI would think anything possible, but the ceilings are vaulted and would require some work. I keep a step stool handy and have now memorized all the settings and can turn it on by feeling the knobs.
