Pony House Kitchen: A Pony Walks Into a Bar

Hick has been making some progress on Pony House, when not wrecking vehicles all willy-nilly while trying to spring me from the hospital. One of the items on his to-do list was the breakfast bar in Pony House kitchen. The bar itself has been in, but with a single support pole. Hick has since put in the shelves that go under the bar.

Of course, as progress marches on, the breakfast bar is more like a tool bar. Here are the shelves right after installation. And then more complete:

Here they are after Hick put the back on them. Not sure if the shelves will remain that natural color, with a coat of something to seal them, or if they will get a stain or paint. I think Pony is still mulling it over.

There is a bit more room behind the shelves to allow for The Pony's legs as he sits on a stool at his breakfast bar. Hick already has the stools. They're one of the first items he bought for Pony House.

No refrigerator yet. It will go beside the stove, where that green plastic chair is. I suppose that's Hick's office.

  1. Coming along nicely! I wish HeWho was motivated to finish at least one project!

    1. Houses are the only thing Hick finishes. And the themed sheds on Shackytown Boulevard, eventually.

  2. WOW! I have a guy who is also good at this kind of building...I suspect Hick works for less.
Really nice. Your boy is one lucky Pony.

    1. Hick works for nothing for The Pony, but has to hire an old man to help him. It was easier with HOS House (Hick's Oldest Son's House), because HOS was the helper. Even if The Pony wasn't working, he would not be anywhere near the quality of helper HOS was.

Pony IS lucky. Though we can't wait for him to start making house payments to us!

    1. Mini projects left to finish. Most of the construction and drywall and painting are done. Still the living room floor to go, and buying and installing the refrigerator, washer/dryer, and water heater.

  4. Ooh, I missed the level the last time, is that a wooden antique? Extra long too. Probably worth a bit to a collector, which would be Hick.

    1. Hick says it's wooden, but not an antique. He says it's four feet long, and about 30 years old. He added that he has about 15 more levels, some in his Creekside Cabin, and some hanging on the outer wall of the garage, under the carport.

So they're probably collectible, but not valuable, since they are hanging there for the taking...

    2. Just googled them, cheaper than I would have thought...still cool though!

    3. The way Hick talked about having such a surplus, you'd think they were Emmy statues from that long-ago SNL episode with Susan Lucci.

  5. Personally I would stain them to match the rest of the kitchen and if the back can't be stained I would paint that part in a bright colour, because to me the white looks wrong.

    1. I'm not sure if that's a piece of drywall, or a piece of plywood painted white. The kitchen walls are a light gray, I think. I forget the name of the paint The Pony chose. So yes, matching the walls could work.

Or it might just LOOK white, from the light coming in the front kitchen window. As you can see on the big living room wall, where the top looks gray and the bottom looks white.

  6. No, it's definitely white and I would paint it turquoise.
