It's a tiny world, after all. Val's world has shrunk to just the upper level of her mansion. No lair visits lately. Maybe soon... I am definitely missing New Delly and my OPC (Old People Chair). Right now I have only the basics. I'm able to cook for myself and sometimes others. I have the main TV, and HIPPIE at the kitchen table. I'm most concerned about getting down to my lair, and not being able to get back upstairs. Those 13 rail-less stairs are no joke. I don't THINK I'm that weak, but you can never be sure until it occurs. Some weird things have happened. For instance, I stood up and felt TOO TALL FOR MY BODY! Isn't that odd? I'm my own weirdo, I guess.
I've only been out to the doctor visit on Feb 9, and a trip to Country Mart on Feb 12. Hick is going to take me and The Pony to the casino for a birthday non-surprise. I feel up to it. I can walk slowly, and there are plenty of sitting places along my way. My Monday shower was completely normal, and did not exhaust me. I'll be making supper for Hick and The Pony. Baked chicken, stuffing, and baked potato. They're carb-lovers, and not so much into vegetables. At least we've enjoyed a big salad for the past two days. I seem to be doing okay in the tiny world, and will start branching out to get back to normal.
When I have access to New Delly, I can start showing more Pony House progress. My laptop HIPPIE is not photo friendly. It CAN be done, but not easily.
I think that Hick should take time away from the Pony house long enough to put a railing in to the basement lair. If he cares at all, he should realize this is going to become more essential as you get older. It's a safety feature, pure and simple. I worry about that every time you mention it. If he built the house, it seems he didn't quite finish the job. It's been long enough. Ranee (MN)
ReplyDeleteHere's the thing: Hick has been going downstairs to watch TV for an hour or two when I watch my Celebrity Big Brother show. And upon hiking up those 13 rail-less basement stairs the second night, he said, "I need to put a hand rail on at least one side of these stair."
DeleteHowever, he has been promising to do this since the boys were toddlers! Even The Pony falling down them around the age of 10 did not spur Hick to build a hand rail. So I will remind him, but I'm not holding my breath. I need to BREATHE to recover!
Slow and easy. That's the path to a full recovery. A big win at the casino might also help.
ReplyDeleteI've been to the casino, and I have two tales to tell!
DeleteGlad to hear you are getting stronger.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am not wasting away. Every day is a little better. I feel ALMOST normal. As normal as I've ever been, I guess.
DeleteI thought he was going to put rails there for safety! Guess that did not happen. He needs to make sure they are sturdy enough so that if an adult crashes into them, they don't give way. It is good you are getting stronger.
ReplyDeleteI thought so too! He talks about it enough. All other rails Hick has built are extra-sturdy. So IF he ever builds a rail, it will be more than adequate.
DeleteI feel like I might even get back down to my lair in the next couple days!
This seems like a good time to beg, plead, demand rails on those rail less stairs. Convince The Pony to convince Hick they are a danger to your newly unsteady self.
ReplyDeleteThe Pony should be extra-convincing, since he has actually fallen down those stairs, and scared us severely when we saw a red stain around his head. Which turned out to be the ketchup off his corn dog plate!
DeletePerhaps you need my voice to complain loudly enough? Grab that ketchup bottle and use it to convince him you fell? Watching the news here is weird. It comes out of Atlanta and the accent of the anchor is very southern, sounding more like Alabama. But, anyway, the story that caught my attention yesterday was about a high-level official in Atlanta faking not one, but two pregnancies in order to take advantage of maternity leave! Did she not think about what would happen if someone asked about the fake children? So, don't fake a pregnancy to get a stair rail!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if Hick would "fall" for the ketchup a second time! I DO need your voice! That's an elaborate plot, to fake TWO pregnancies. Or even ONE! I can't believe nobody was curious about the lack of a baby to show.
