Hick feels like he is spinning his wheels at Pony House. He can't get the help that he needs WHEN he needs it. More precisely, when he WANTS it. So he's been going back and forth between projects. He DID get a toilet put into Bathroom 2.
I said that doesn't look like a TALL toilet to me. Hick insists that it IS.
"Val, it says TALL TOILET on the box. The Pony picked it out with me. When I sit on it, my legs are straight out. It's a tall toilet."
Okay. Maybe it's the perspective. Hick says it's a low-flush toilet. Which I said I've heard people complain about. But Hick says that's about the only kind you can find to buy these days. I don't know my toilets like I know Seinfeld and ER reruns, so I'll have to take Hick's word for it.
This view was taken from Bedroom 2. Hick plans to put in a white baseboard, which I think will be a good contrast and divider between the different woods. He'll also trim out the window with white. He has not yet put in the sink or white-board on the other two walls. He and The Pony are taking the sink and countertop over on Tuesday, I think.
Hick also put in the new electric box. It's in Bedroom 2, the wall that is against the kitchen.
Of course it won't be left hanging open like that. But I asked if a bedroom wall was kind of an odd place for an electric box.
"They are in a variety of places, Val. Some people put them in a closet. It wasn't convenient for me to put it in a closet. It will be fine. You never use them anyway, unless something goes wrong."
"I know. Like when you trip a breaker. And I know ours is in the walk-in closet in the master bathroom. So I just thought it was odd to be in a bedroom."
Hick says it isn't. He might think I won't check.
I do like a toilet with a decent amount of space on either side. Mine is positioned so close to a wall my upper arm brushes against to paper on the spindle. Trying to clean that corner of the floor is a little difficult, so I usually let the dust and fluff build up until it makes the cleanup worthwhile. My electric breaker box is in the kitchen and doesn't look nearly as complicated as that one in Pony house.
ReplyDeleteI hate a toilet without elbow room! It's like being in a straightjacket. Not that I have ever been in a straightjacket, of course...
DeleteHick knows his way around a breaker box. It was part of his job, and he's done our houses and flip houses for his buddies.
I just looked and of course there is a cover over all the wiring connections so only the fuse switches and safety switch are visible.
ReplyDeleteYes, I imagine Hick has it put in and functioning, but not yet completely finished. He is good about labeling the breakers so you know what's what. Ours has a panel over it, with only the switches showing.
DeleteI have a rather large breaker box in the wall IN MY DEN! I hung a large picture over it. Oddly, it is quite convenient there. My house is over 100 years old. A lot of odd things have been part of it’s evolution to modern living.
ReplyDeletePony House was built in 1900 or 1920. I forget which. I had the most scathingly brilliant idea! Hick has a thin little door that looks like it's for a broom closet. It came with a bunch of free doors a buddy's son gave Hick. I suggested that he build a little cabinet around the breaker box, and put this door on it. He said it might work.
DeleteLooks high to me. Those low flush toilets save lots of water, except you have to flush them multiple times.
ReplyDeleteThe Pony said it looked high. He did NOT try sitting on it. Said it's higher than ours in our master bathroom, but it may be lower than the one in his own bathroom. He's satisfied with it, anyway.
