Some Full-Price Drywall Goes Up In Pony House

Hick bought more drywall for Pony House. Paid retail. No erroneous discounts this time. He's putting up what he can on walls that don't need wiring or plumbing.

Part of the hallway to the back door is done. Randomly. Seen from a position in the middle of the living room.

There's the furnace room, which you enter from the kitchen.

Here's the inside of the furnace room. The furnace will go on the right, and these shelves on the left will be used as a pantry, for food storage. But now it's HICK storage, for his tools, which were getting out of control in the kitchen.

That's the wall of the kitchen that Hick has closed off from Bedroom 2. The furnace room door will be on the far left, just out of the picture. The stove will be around where Hick's mini Coca Cola fridge sits. And the real fridge to the left of it. There's a piece of counter that will go to the right of the mini fridge.

Here's the front wall of the kitchen, looking out onto the front porch. That's Hick's helper. Hick says they still have a lot of taping to do for the drywall. That the other walls they've covered were walls they built, and they were square. But these are the original walls of the 100-year-old house, and they are not always square.

When The Pony is delivering in that area, he stops in to have a look. It's only about 4 blocks from the main post office. I think he's kind of excited to move in. Or to move out of here...

  1. Sorry for being so long without a comment, but things have been crazy rough around here. I love to watch the progress and you do make me laugh.

    1. Stuff happens! It's not like I charge a comment for admission to read my long-winded diatribes! Drop in when you have time to fritter away.

I like showing the progress, since Hick is so proud when he sends me his too-close or too-distant photos. I have fun making fun of the predicaments we find ourselves in.

  2. I bet he is excited to have his very own place. He will be in his before I move to mine! Still getting the run around from my buyers. They have entered into an associatio with an investor and she seems to think she can out-talk me. I assure you that she is wrong in assuming I do not do my homework and have no idea of the value of my property. She got all snippy and told me that she works for an attorney. I told her that information plus 4 quarters wold get her a can of soda. I can hire an attorney! The commitment to the deal with them is up on the 15th and I have contacted a broker to re-list the place.

    1. The Pony is looking most forward to having his own HIGH SPEED INTERNET! We can't get it here, since we're stuck on a DISH satellite. Civilization has its perks.

Yes, I do think The Pony may be moving before you can. Let that lady snip! Just like buying a car, you have to know the true value, and don't give an inch, no matter what the "experts" try to tell you.

  3. It's looking more like a house now. I'd be excited too if it were going to be mine :)

    1. The basics are being put in place, but a lot of refinement is still necessary. That kitchen window, for example, has now been trimmed. I think I can show a picture on Sunday.

Everybody likes a new house, even if it's 100 years old! Well. Maybe not EVERYBODY, but people who appreciate a bargain will like it.

  4. For pony it must be equivalent to an expectant mom waiting to meet her baby. It sure is coming along nicely.

    1. I think The Pony is worrying that labor might need to be induced! Hick foolishly predicted the house could be done by December, and now there have been delays.

About a month was lost waiting on HOS (Hick's Oldest Son) to find time to assist Hick (for pay). When that didn't work out, Hick hired one of his Storage Unit buddies on an hourly basis. They've been getting a lot done. Today the furnace man is finally set to arrive.
