Maybe the French Maid Needed a Companion

There is the edge of insanity, and then there is the abyss. Pretty sure I'm stealing that quote from Andrew McCarthy in St. Elmo's Fire.

Hick's habit continues to consume him. I fear that he's toppled into the abyss. Here are his latest auction acquisitions. Just the ones he sent me pictures of. I don't want to break the internet by showing everything he buys.

Saturday night, Hick got this Coca Cola cooler for $12.50, and the oil lamp for $3. I don't know what the going rate is for Coke coolers, but I'd imagine there are collectors who'd want this, and Hick will make a couple dollars profit. Everybody likes an oil lamp. So much that they're always picking them up and breaking the globes. If he can keep it healthy, I think this lamp will sell, too. You can tell by the furnishings what a ritzy place Hick frequents. I'm hoping that thing between his feet is a clandestine piece of candy that Hick dropped.

Here's where, in my opinion, Hick hangs ten on the edge of insanity. He bought this tub of 30 M&M candy dispensers for a total of $5. He plans to ask $2 or $3 apiece. I said he'll never sell them. Hick haughtily replied that he just sold one like them for $6.

Okay. Are you ready to plunge into the abyss?

Hick bought himself a 30-inch BUTLER! For $7. I can't imagine anybody (besides Hick) wanting this guy. Maybe that "French Maid" that The Pony asked him to bring home from his France trip needs a companion. Here she is, posed in front of The Little Barbershop of Horrors. Not much of a maid at all. I told her tale on my supersecret blog.

I think she currently resides in The Pony's Sword Shack, where it's pretty crowded. We might need another shack for the butler...

  1. I think Hick knows his stuff. The Coke cooler and lamp will easily double his money. The M+M stuff will sell like hotcakes and the butler $15 easy and fast.

    1. I think you know Hick's stuff, too! I have no idea what any of that might sell for. None of this haul interested me enough to look them up. There must be more call for butlers than I imagined.

  2. I think the butler should go right behind the French Maid and be bringing her a tall glass of something cool and frothy. Fake of course. I love the M&M dispensers, I used to have a red one, no idea where it is now.

    1. Maybe Hick was right about those M&M dispensers. I really hope Hick is planning to sell the butler, and not keep him!

  3. Well, Hick certainly has an eclectic taste for stuff. Reminds me of the time HeWho purchased a case of one time use breathalizers to sell along side pager accessories in one of our stores in MN. Why? So you could test yourself before driving after a night of drinking. They did not sell like he imagined they would and I ended up tossing them after their expiration date. Be thankful that Hick is not buying stuff that has an expiration date. Hicks stuff will actually sell!

    1. For a minute I read that as USED breathalizers! Which I imagine would have sold as "well" as the one-time use breathalizers did.

Hick found a bunch of little bottles of hand sanitizer in the storage units he bought. They are in purple bottles, and clip onto a backpack. He was giving them away with purchases, or to kids who came in. I tried one, and it was EMPTY! They have all dried out. Hick still hasn't thrown them away. Which I am sure does not surprise you.

  4. I hate to say this but Hick will sell those M&M things as many people have a soft spot for those. I love the butler.

    1. The M&M commercials with those little guys are running pretty frequently, so that will help them sell. Apparently, I have underestimated the butler!

  5. Hmm, Hick sure knows a bargain when he sees one or two or thirty. M&M memorabilia will sell. the butler might be just right for Thanksgiving. LOL

    1. I guess that butler could offer drinks or dip at a party. Or even M&Ms in their containers!

  6. I think that maid is actually Jessica Rabbit.

    1. Yes, but what was she doing in a saw-blade-making factory in France? At least she came to the U.S. on Hick's company's dime, in shipping container.
