Hick Lost His Grip On the Ponytail Guy's Meat!

For the first time in FOREVER (or at least 8 weeks), Hick returned home emptyhanded, having lost his grip on the Ponytail Guy's meat. I don't know what happened. Hick has been closemouthed about it. Heh, heh. Not really. I just forgot to ask, and Hick didn't boast that he hauled home FREE meat.

Hick DID tell The Pony and me,

"If something happens to me, I owe the Ponytail Guy $XXX dollars. I bought a gun from him, and didn't have enough money with me, because I'd been buying other ones all morning. So make sure he gets it if I don't have a chance to see him."

Surely that's not the reason the Ponytail Guy is withholding his meat! Hick and his buddies trade stuff around all the time. They're good for their debts.

Monday, I'm going to try the Ponytail Guy's meatballs. Not me, exactly. Sure, I'll have a taste. But I'm mainly making them for Hick and The Pony, in red sauce, with boxed spaghetti noodles, of which Hick says he has a CASE.

"You'll have to bring the meatballs over from the BARn. And some sauce. And of course the spaghetti noodles. I sure hope you've had those noodles in the fridge! If you've left them setting out in the BARn, I wouldn't eat them if I was you. The squirrels will have been into them. Or a mouse, maybe!"

"They're not in the BARn. They're in my truck right now. Still in the box."

"I guess they're safe enough out there. Bring enough meatballs for the two of you, for two days worth of supper. And one for me to try."

I have to be specific, you know. Because on the night we were having chicken patty sandwiches on a hamburger bun, Hick brought over FOUR of them, for the three of us to eat, when we all have two.

Anyhoo... Hick likes spaghetti. The Pony likes any kind of noodle, but generally has elbow macaroni or shells. I'm a bit of an antinoodleite. Pasta is not my cup of tea. I think I'll have some of the Ponytail Guy's sausage.

What?? Is Hick in trouble with the mob? Are people after him?
    This is nail-biting stuff...

    1. I mentioned on my super-secret blog how Hick's nurse practitioner is giving him the runaround. About how he went for tests TWO MONTHS ago, and they lost his blood, and didn't read the other results, and re-sent him for more tests. Today I found out they "forgot" to make an appointment with a cardiologist that was supposed to have been done at least a month ago.

Tuesday, Hick has an appointment with some kind of specialist. Maybe an internist? I (Dr. VALedictorian) think it's his gallbladder acting up. So Hick doesn't know if he'll need surgery, if he'll get more tests, or if he'll be told that hospitals aren't treating sick people any more!

So... Hick probably WISHES he was in trouble with the mob (probably can't use that term these days, but you went first, heh, heh). He isn't himself lately.

    2. My new cardiologist told me he would call me to have a stint put in, put in in about 4-6 weeks. That was two months ago. All the doctors I go to seem to want me to come in, but make it difficult. Getting so much meat must make it easy to shop and fix dinner/meals.

    3. I hope you keep track of the time, and call to remind them! If Hick had been more demanding, he would have found out the blood samples didn't make it to the lab, and saved himself two weeks up front.

That office Hick goes to must have more cracks than a plumber's convention!!! Everything they say they're doing for him gets "forgotten," or somehow falls through the cracks.

Yes, I'm getting a routine with the Ponytail Guy's meat. I could make a schedule of the rotation, to have the bread and side dishes on hand for each one.

  2. When I left those boxes of pasta in my pantry for a few months they got bugs. Turns out the boxes often have tiny unhatched eggs. I now freeze them for a day and that kills the eggs (Fishducky told me that).

    1. We're only keeping 4-6 boxes, so they won't last long. I would have thought insect eggs were more hardy than that! One day? I'll give them a week.
