The Pony was getting ready for work, wondering if any mail trucks had made it in. The weather across the state was worse than what we got in our small section. The Pony was planning to walk to work, rather than scrape off his car and drive it on the icy roads. Figured he'd take his snow boots, but wear regular shoes with the spikey stretch thingies the USPS gives the carriers for their shoe soles.
That's the view from The Pony's front door. He might have gotten a bit more snow than us, but still with the icy layer underneath.
Hick said he would pick up The Pony and drive him to work. It's only four blocks, but a nice gesture. The Pony agreed, and was dropped off. The packages hadn't been delivered on Sunday because that's when all the snow/sleet/freezing rain was falling. So The Pony did that until 11:30, then clocked out and walked home.
There's the view from our kitchen door. The snowfall is not impressive. It's the ice and sleet underneath that makes it treacherous, keeping me off the streets.
Hick's solar light collection is suffering as I type this at 7:04 p.m. No sun today, and they're ensconced in ice and snow. Only one is emitting a faint glow.
Hick said the roads in School-Turn Town, where we have our flip houses, were cleared fairly well, but that the roads in Sis-Town, where The Pony resides, were a mess. He thinks I might be able to get out on Wednesday. We'll see. Temps are going to remain in the mid-20s for daytime highs. A little sun could hasten the road melt.
It sounds like a good time to stay in. We have below freezing temps but no precipitation until Friday.
ReplyDeleteWe're not expected to get above freezing until Friday, and another snow is on the way, according to the doomsayers on the news!
DeleteI love those little prints in the snow! Glad you didn't get as much snow, hopefully the ice melts for you.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a little birdie was trying to tell The Pony something! The other prints are from Hick and the dogs tromping around our kitchen door.
DeleteTreacherous but oh-so-pretty. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling I might be trapped here for a while. At least Hick can get out to fetch anything we need from town.
DeleteWe got about 8 inches of snow along with the ice. My daughter works 3rd shift at a hospital and she said the main streets were still a mess coming home this morning. But she made it home safely.
ReplyDeleteSo glad she made it home safely! I'm relieved we didn't get more snow on top of it. Hick says the roads around here are okay, but the parking lots and sidewalks are not, and that I should stay home ANOTHER day!
