The News Is the Weather

We are expecting a major winter storm to roll in around 10:00 Saturday night. As I type this, it's 8:18 p.m., and Hick reports nothing is falling from the sky. Supposedly, we are getting sleet and freezing rain in our area, changing to snow on Sunday evening. I don't want freezing rain! That takes down power lines! If I disappear, it's because the electricity went off. That's not good here, in our total electric home. No water because no well pump. No heat. Only one flush of each toilet.

Hick says if we lose power, we can just go to one of our town houses. That could work. IF we can get to town. He also said a smarter tactic would be to go to the house of the crony he is doing renovations for.

"It has TV and a bathroom and furniture. Better than our flip house(s)."

"That doesn't seem like something we should do."

"We wouldn't hurt nothin'. She'd never even know when she gets back from vacation."

I have no plans to leave my comfy home, unless we don't have heat for an extended period. I can imagine how school children and especially TEACHERS are rooting for this storm to disrupt travel. They are scheduled to go back on Monday after their Christmas break.

Of course I am concerned about The Pony working on Monday. At least he's off Sunday, when most of the snow will be falling.

  1. I hope you don't lose power but if you do I hope you can make it to one of your town houses. I didn't know you had those. Maybe you should go while you can in case the power goes out? But then you'd have to take the dogs and their food and that's a lot of bother.

    1. So far, power is till on. By "town houses," Hick meant the flip houses, since the Beauty Shop and main house are move-in ready. Or even Bargain House, which also has heat, electricity, and water.

The dogs have a self-feeder just filled up yesterday. It works on gravity. The issue might be their water bowl which uses electricity to keep it unfrozen. They are roaming around together, barking at Copper Jack, who has come over from next door. Hick gave them a treat of bread and cheddar cheese. They have been snoozing in the haybales over on Shackytown Boulevard, but came out to romp when Hick took some cardboard boxes out to burn.
