Each day (well, three hours of each day, four days a week) brings the Bargain House kitchen closer to completion. You may recall that Hick was waiting on a box of flooring because he ran out.
There's the part he put down, which matches what he put above the cabinets.
While waiting on the flooring, Hick experimented with the door trim. At first it was going to be white, but he sent this sample, asking what I thought of black:
I like it! So the door trim will (eventually) be black.
The overhead light has been installed:
Meanwhile, the stove and refrigerator are now in place:
The kitchen door is still lacking trim, because Hick has to get more trim boards. But the flooring is done, so there's that.
My opinion is that the kitchen will be what sells the house. Hick thinks it will be the small bathroom, with the corner shower, because it gives the house two bathrooms.
Wow! The kitchen is looking marvelous! I like the black trim around the door too because it matches the floor baseboard and really outlines the door itself.
ReplyDeleteYes. Hick said that was an old junky piece of wood that he painted black, just to see how it would look around the door. He thought of leaving it there, but then decided, "I've spent all this money and time on the kitchen. I can afford to spend $20 more on decent trim board for that door!"
DeleteI like it!!! The light even has black trim to go with all the rest. And Hick is (maybe) wrong about the second bathroom. It's always the kitchen that sells a house and this kitchen is a five star kitchen.

DeleteBravo to Hick! Looking good. Kitchens are always the most important room in the house when you consider purchasing one. But I might agree with Hick about the second bathroom! Having only one here, a second toilet would be a luxury for me. So, a half bath would make me happy, but an entire second bathroom would send me over the moon!!
ReplyDeleteA kitchen is flashy, but I can see the appeal of that second bathroom, with access from the living room, and also from the front bedroom.
