The Goose Says, “EFF the Gander, and the Gator He Rode in On!”

Sunday afternoon, Hick asked me what I thought about his newest project. Well, not so much asked me what I thought, as gave me a lecture on not thinking what he thought I should think.

“How do you like my new project?”

“I don’t.”

“Would it kill you to, just once, say you liked something that I did around here?”

“No. Not if I liked it. I would tell you.”

“Do you know how many people want this kind of fence around their house?”

“No. But what I saw was half a fence. And it doesn’t match anything you had done to the roof or the siding. A fence with peeling white paint, HALF a fence, really, in front of a carport I didn’t want, in brown and green.”

“You never appreciate anything I do!”

And with that, Hick turned on his muddy heel and made his exit, with no comment whatsoever about the nine hours over two days that Val spent preparing dishes for the Easter feast, which was consumed in 20 minutes and 18 seconds.

  1. That isn't much of a fence. It isn't finished, is it?

    1. Finished? As in the PAINT JOB? That's as good as it gets.

Structurally, Hick has now spanned the length of the carport, after forcing The Pony to accompany him up to our other piece of land, which came with a metal shed, which apparently housed this fence, and load it in the Gator. Or else Hick has been ripping off-white pickets out of people's yards, and storing them in that metal shed.

  2. Oh Stephen, you foolish fellow.

Of course the fence is done. Hick is done with it, and is already on his way to another project. He has other buildings and things to erect. (ha)

    1. Your silence on the fence is deafening...

  4. Does Hick really think that fence serves a purpose? He certainly couldn't have done it for the appearance!!

    1. I don't know of any purpose that fence serves, other than raising my blood pressure.

  5. I like the carport, too, except for the difference in paint colors. The fence? Still needs some work.

    1. Here's the thing...we had a perfectly good cedar-sided garage that matched the house. Then Hick neglected treating the cedar on the garage, and it turned all dark instead of that warm cedar color. THEN he had the roofers who built the carport use brown metal, thinking it matched the the rest of the house. And it does not.

  6. Next he will be trying to convince you how fun it would be to paint the fence. Why, it would be so fun he will have to charge you to do it. (Wonder how much you should charge a plate for that Easter dinner?)

    1. I'm not giving him my glass doorknob! Or my dead cat!

I think I should charge between $15 and $20. Because it was ALL YOU CAN EAT!

  7. He wastes nothing! But, why does he need a fence to define the garage? He needs his own reality show about building sheds and putting up fences ......

    1. THEY HAVE ALREADY STARTED HICK'S REALITY SHOW! But without Hick!

It starts Saturday night, I think, on DIY network. It's called "He Shed, She Shed." The perfect vehicle for Hick!
