They're Heeeeeeere!

The new hoard of egg rolls has arrived. The Pony accomplished his mission. I was asleep at the time. When I woke up, I asked The Pony if he'd gotten the egg rolls repackaged from their box of 96, and put into the mini freezer in the laundry room.

"I didn't have to! They were already in packages, so I only had to empty the box into the freezer."

"You mean like individually wrapped? And you dumped them all loose into the freezer?"

"No. There was more than one in a pack. They were sealed. Not a baggie. The best way I can describe them is like bullets on a belt for a machine gun."

"Oh. That's interesting..."

"You'll have to see them to understand what I mean. They filled up the whole freezer, and I put one set in the regular freezer in the kitchen."

Of course I went directly to the mini freezer to get a look.

Sorry for the horror movie kind of vibe. I blocked some of the natural sunlight coming in from the door to the porch behind me. As you can see, any FREE meat I might have wanted to cook for suppers is buried beneath this fresh crop of egg rolls. There's a bag of either chicken patties or sausage. Not sure what's in the red bag in the corner. Don't forget, there are gallon freezer bags of the original 96 egg rolls under here, too!

Yes, of course we have tried these egg rolls! They are more crispy than the first case. More like spring rolls. The inside is still cabbage. No pork in these egg rolls. There may be some chicken. Maybe not. They are smaller and lighter and appeal more to The Pony. I like either kind. So does Hick.

I guess that's a good thing.

  1. You'll be tired of egg rolls by the time you get to what is underneath! The description of machine gun bullets is spot on.

    1. The minute The Pony compared them to machine gun bullets, I pictured them as they're packaged--but with a crimp between each individual egg roll.

Is it possible to get tired of egg rolls? They're SO delicious. Even without the duck sauce.

  2. Eat up! I sure miss going to the casino buffet where I used to get my favorite sweet and sour chicken. Maybe someday.

    1. We're not missing any sweet and sour chicken here! The Pony still gets it when we order Chinese food once or twice a month. Our casino got rid of their buffet about two years ago, and we are still missing it. The fried chicken is what I miss most.

  3. Holy Eggrolls!! Did you really think the Pony would stack the eggrolls from the bottom to the top, rotating any eggrolls from the last batch to the top? Allowing access to other items lurking in the confines of the freezer? That is what I would have done. I wouldn't expect HeWho to do much more than dump the contents of the box and then ask where t put the ones that wouldn't fit.

    1. Of course I didn't expect The Pony to rotate and stack the egg rolls! I blame Hick for getting TOO MUCH FREE FOOD in the 2 or 3 weeks after The Pony and I had already organized it. I DID fear that The Pony had dumped 96 loose egg rolls in there, all willy-nilly.

  4. It's good that they are better than the first batch and I like the way they are packaged too. I would have rotated the stock too, as Kathy suggests, but The Pony probably doesn't think of those things. I would also stack all the egg rolls to one side and the chicken products to one side also with any other meats etc stacked together too. I like my freezer orderly. Of course I no longer have a chest freezer, only the bottom third of my fridge.

    1. We had one big bag of meatballs, but I think The Pony and Hick have already consumed them. By way of spaghetti, meatball sub sandwiches with provolone cheese and red sauce, and on toothpicks with sauce for dipping. I'm not a meatball fan, and much prefer the egg rolls!
