I was surprised by a sight at 10Box this week. My trusty handicap placard and T-Hoe and I had nabbed the closest handicap space on the right side of the doors. Other cars were taking up the left side spaces. When I came out, a couple of them had left. And I observed the most magnificent sight!
Look! It's a 4-wheeler, parked in a handicap space, not on the sidewalk, not in the striped area! It appears to be legally parked. AND IT IS!!!
Look closer! IT HAS A HANDICAP PLACARD!!!
Yes, it appears that such a thing DOES exist. Or at least someone has taken their car placard to use when they drive the 4-wheeler to town. I know that when I filled out my paperwork to get a placard for T-Hoe, and A-Cad, I had to put the car make and model on the application.
MOST days I'm surprised by drivers and parkers, but it is usually not PLEASANTLY.
That is unusual. My placard is good for other cars if I am a driver or passenger. I even saw a motorcycle with a placard.
ReplyDeleteI got my application from my NP's office. They had a whole stack. Maybe it was an older version. Maybe it was a newer version. Don't know, it's the only one I ever saw.
DeleteThis is the first non-automobile I've seen with a placard. That's why I was curious if other vehicles could get them. Were these driver/rider people just being rumpusholes like car drivers who park in handicap spaces without a plate or placard? Or were they not available for 4-wheelers, side-by-sides, motorcycles, golf carts, etc.? If a placard can be used for any vehicle, then it points to rumpusholery!
How good to see the 4 wheeler parked legally with the placard, that might be a fun way to drive to the store or doctor appointment.
ReplyDeleteHeh, heh! You might NEED a doctor appointment after driving a 4-wheeler on the road! People drive crazy around here!
DeleteThat's a surprising sight. Perhaps the driver has trouble getting into and out of regular cars, I know I do sometimes. It depends on the car.
ReplyDeleteMore likely, the driver wants to save gas when driving to the store. Or doesn't have a car, or have insurance on a car.
