This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Visits to the Convenience Store for Gas and Lottery

Friday I went to the Sis-Town Casey's to get gas for T-Hoe and scratchers for myself. I always park at the pump, and go inside to pay as I get my tickets. I don't like using a card for gas. We're a cash household for incidental stuff like that, unless going on a trip.

On my way back out to pump the gas, I was dismayed when a small car pulled into the striped walkway where I must descend from the sidewalk. These old knees don't like uneven surfaces, and even on a ramp, I must creep down slowly. Anyhoo... this car blatantly parked RIGHT IN THE RAMP AREA as I was gimping towards it.

I resisted the urge to give the driver my teacher stinkeye. You never know who's packin' these days. So I limped down the sliver of ramp left available for me. Didn't even slam my fist down on the hood of their blue compact car, which was also an urge.

Once back to T-Hoe, waiting for my gas to flow in, I took a picture for evidence! These were not people in need of a ramp (which they had blocked). It was two young gals. In fact, the driver remained in the car! If her companion had needed the ramp, or to be let out near the door, she could have parked there momentarily for the disembarking, then moved her car and come back for the pickup. But no. They were obviously entitled to park in the striped walkway.

As you can see, there is a parking space available one car to the right. Which would leave the handicap space they also blocked, as well as the striped walkway, available for those who need them.

I suppose they thought they could avoid the $100 fine for parking in the handicap space, though clearly they are preventing anyone else from using it. Nor could anybody get a wheelchair up that sliver of ramp they (probably unknowingly) left available.

Two tires in the handicap space, the rest of the car in the striped walkway. No excuse for that.

My standard practice is to block out any license numbers, because people don't ask for their personal information to be exposed on my blog. I'm not making the effort this time.

These two were kind of asking for it...

  1. Well doggone it, that is just wrong! One of these days you are going to let loose and smack your fist down. People are really rude, these days. Inconsiderate.

    1. I don't want to hurt my fist! It might affect my scratcher scratching! I think this inconsiderateness stems from getting trophies their whole life for merely existing. They are obviously too special to follow the same societal rules as the common people.

  2. When they are old and gimpy I hope the same thing happens to them.

    1. They think they will never be old, heh, heh! Boy, are they gonna be in for a surprise when they get treated the way they treat the elderly.

  3. They probably were also parked over a penny!

    1. Maybe! I've found them in the striped walkway before.

  4. If I was in my vehicle alone, I would have moved my car and parked sideways right behind them for a bit blocking their car. I can be mean like that! If my hubby was in the car with me, then I wouldn't have been able to do that! LOL

    1. Heh, heh! Park there and then go inside so they can't ask you to move! Trapped like the rats that they are! And if they go in to ask for an announcement for the driver to move the car, they are exposing their dastardly deed.

  5. What state? I need those ramps, too, walking or riding in an electric cart. People only think of themselves most days!

    1. We have several people who drive along the side of the road in this town, because the sidewalks are not connected and accessible. They could tip over trying to go through that little gap, catching two wheels on the little curb. Not sure what state her plate is from, since it has that metal frame around it. Could be here in Missouri, or maybe not.

  6. I am proud of your passive aggressive punishment! We have a placard to park in Handicap spaces since HeWho can't walk far. He is constantly pointing out the vehicles in the spots that have no placard. He even said something to a young man who was returning t his vehicle. The guy said he thought there were too many handicapped spots and who cares anyway. Nice attitude. HeWho told him that HE cared since he could not find an empty spot because of people like him. I told the jerk that he was aging more each day and would one day need consideration. I am sure it had no impact, but to make us feel better.

    1. Heh, heh! I showed HER! Hick says my doctor would probably give me a handicap placard, since he excused me from jury duty for mobility problems. I keep forgetting to look into it. The only place I park in a handicap space is at the Gas Station Chicken Store, because it's hard for me to deal with T-Hoe's door when I park on the hill spaces. If it's taken, I'll park over by the moat, where it's flat, but I hold up parking lot traffic because I walk so slow going across past the pumps.

These young whippersnappers certainly seem to be a lazy and uncaring bunch! At least The Pony would never park in a handicap space. He even felt guilty with his broken ankle and hand-me-down wooden crutches, when I parked there to take him to get aluminum crutches.
