I also missed a grocery-shopping trip with The Pony. He came out to pick up his laptop mouse that he'd forgotten on Sunday. I would have dropped it off if I went to pick him up for shopping. But those plans changed. WHY???
It's tax time.
I spent the morning working on taxes. Yes. I do my own, with the assistance of TurboTax. It's still time-consuming. Those fields aren't going to autofill themselves! It's pretty much common sense. Just answer the questions, and type in details from W-2s and 1099s of various kinds like RET, INT, DIV, etc. We had seven different 1099s, and social security info, and that darn Hick had the NERVE to get a W-2 for working twice at the election! Still, that was the easiest part. I've yet to get to the sale of our QuickFlip house, and Hick's business.
Have you started serenading me with the world's smallest violin yet? I can't quite hear. The wind is whipping around with 51 mph gusts, and sustained wind at 27 mph. Another reason I am not itching to go get scratchers. Also, it's my TV night from 7:00 to 10:00. Can't miss Survivor or The Amazing Race. That's how I learn world geography, you know!
I'm pretty sure that on Thursday, I will be ready to get out. The taxes still won't be completely done, but the easy parts will.
Oh my gosh Val, I hear ya. I did my taxes last Friday and spent and hour trying to figure out how to see the results because Turbo Tax wanted me to sign off on them and I wanted to see what I was signing off on. After much frustration, I just clicked the sign off button and it took me to a page where I could download or print or view (I think) the completed tax forms before submitting. I dread doing my taxes because even though Turbo Tax helps, it's still a lot of work:) Good Luck with completing your taxes!
ReplyDeleteI had a glitch like that a couple years ago! It was around the same place, where you're done, and just want to save or view the forms.
DeleteIt wouldn't let me pay the fee to file a second return for state. I think I was doing The Pony's taxes that year. It kept kicking me out in a loop. I finally gave up and tried the next day, and it worked. Good thing I didn't wait until the last day, heh, heh!
I'm still mad that TurboTax has to be a download now, and not a disc you can load. Good thing I had The Pony do that part for me! Then we were horrified that the password I had to set last year for Intuit did not work, and without a password it couldn't send a code to change the password! Between our two heads, we figured out my password. That was a close one.
Tax time is a no fun thing to do. Especially when you owe.🙂
ReplyDeleteYes. No reward at all for getting it done!
DeleteYou'll hear no serenading from me, I don't own a violin. I no longer worry about taxes, being retired with no extra businesses or activities that would have the taxman knocking on my door.
ReplyDeleteWe are retired. Even without our business activities, the tax man would be here with hand outstretched!
DeleteHick likes to rant about taxes: "You have taxes held out when you earn the money. You pay taxes on items you buy with the money. You pay taxes every year to OWN the items you've bought, like cars and property. When you take out the money you saved for retirement, it gets taxed again as your income. When you die and leave it to your relatives, THEY have to pay a tax on it. If you sell your house or car, the new buyer has to pay tax on it all over again."
