Hick bemoaned a bargain that got away this week. He's been working on Bargain House again. He got the shower set in place in the bathroom he's adding.
Now it needs a door and the faucet put on. I don't think Hick has the door yet, but I'm pretty sure he has the faucet.
"I could have had a 5-foot shower for only $500! The guy I know who works at Lowe's told me about it. Lowe's donates stuff to the VA Store so they can make money from it. I almost went and got it, for the main bathroom. It would fit just right. Then I got to thinking, did I really want a house with two showers and no bathtub. It's a nice shower, like the one we have."
"Still, there would be no bathtub. If the person who wants to buy the house has little kids, that would be a dealbreaker. When you want a tub, you don't spend all your money on a house that you'll have to remodel to put in a bathtub. So I think you were right not to get the shower."
"Yeah. I hate it, though. That shower would be $1200 full price. But we don't have a house to put it in right now. So I couldn't see buying it."
I'm sure other bargains will come Hick's way. He's a bargain magnet.
That shower looks mighty tiny to me. I wouldn't be able to turn around in it. Maybe there's more to come.
ReplyDeleteThe only part still to come is the door. Guess you'd better mark this off the list of houses you are planning to purchase in Missouri.
DeleteIt's a standard corner shower, used when space is at a premium, if a shower is desired rather than none at all. This ain't the Taj Mahal. Just an old house being turned into a safe, livable home.
He could have bought it and stored it for a future home. I agree about the tub, one tub and one shower is better.
ReplyDeleteWe don't want to overtax The Pony's finances, which are tied up in three flip houses right now. The Pony also agreed on the shower decision. Of course, he's the one who put up his own money for a jetted tub in the house he is buying from us...
DeleteIt seems those types of deals are always come up when you're not looking. Bathroom tubs, sinks, showers sure aren't cheap. If Hick has storage he should pick up that find. You guys seem to be in the flipping business & that deal on that shower seems really good.
ReplyDeleteAnother deal will come along. We need to sell one of the flips before we can think about buying another that could use such a shower.
DeleteI thought the shower was tiny, too. But, then I decided it was the angle that the picture was taken.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the angle making it look small, but it's a standard corner shower, and there wouldn't be any point of manufacturing it if people weren't buying it.
DeleteIf you think that shower is small, you've never been on a cruise ship.
ReplyDeleteLet the record show that Val has never been on a cruise ship, and never WILL be on a cruise ship! I would have claustrophobia on the open sea.
DeleteMy closest thing to a sea-faring adventure was a trip on a large ferry from Ketchikan to Juneau. It involved a couple nights going there and back. We didn't even book a room, just slept in the big reclining chairs. There were public showers, with stalls like a restroom kind of setting. So they were bigger than this!
