I planned to stop my penny-posting. Really. But when I found a coin on New Year's Day, I took it as a sign that I should continue...
SUNDAY, January 1, I slid out of T-Hoe at the Liquor Store, and saw a reminder that the coins believe in Val!
So much pavement, so little coin! It's near the bottom. The bigger circle, not the blob of gum above it.
It was a face-down 1996 penny, very good at camouflage.

WEDNESDAY, January 4, I had financial business in Sis-Town. Of course I couldn't deny myself a trip to Casey's. I was thrilled to see a tempting sight at the counter.
I was even more thrilled that nobody was working the second register with the hand-written CASH ONLY sign taped on it. Perhaps the clerk was sitting in the handicap stall texting...
Anyhoo... I ample-rumpused my way to a face-down 2015 dime. Such a nice find in the first week of the New Year.

First off, I like that camo cent and would use it as art. Second my old mind played a trick on me. I galanced quickly at the display of Trident and thought it said TROJAN. I wondered what the heck you were celebrating, an aniversary?
ReplyDeleteCamo cent art: no crazier than what people pay millions for!
DeleteI suspect that Trident display is where Hick got the gum he told me was Dentyne, when I caught him rolling it around in his wide-open trap like half-masticated cow, a la Sandra Bullock in "Miss Congeniality."
That's a lot of finds for last year. Greetings!
ReplyDeleteWe'll see what THIS year has to offer!
DeleteLinda made me laugh! When we lived in Tallahassee the twins were in highschool. When they came home the first day of school they couldn't wait to tell me the name of their football team ..... The Trojans! I wondered if the mascot was a condom.
ReplyDeleteWe had Trojans in our conference! Not that we could poke fun at them. Our mascot was a now-politically-incorrect representation of southern aristocracy...
DeleteI cross my fingers and hope for many more pennies and dimes for you this year.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Seems like nothing makes you find pennies faster than declaring you're no longer going to look for pennies!
