Hick's mind is always scheming. Scheming on ways to buy things, and declare that they are NEEDED. He recently bought a sign. He put it on the door of the bus-waiting shack.
Take my word for it. There IS a sign on the door. My camera didn't pick it up from mailbox distance.
I promise! There IS a sign, right under the window of the door! The sun was at an odd angle for signage on this day.
THERE! Told ya so! Hick doesn't know if it will do any good, but it can't hurt. Unless someone steals his sign.
Funny thing, before he even put this sign on the bus-waiting shack, he was talking to a friend at the Storage Units who likes to hunt arrowheads. He must have seen the old sign, still up, high on a tree, painted on a piece of wood, that declares trespassers will be prosecuted.
"I like to walk along creeks to hunt for arrowheads. You have a good place out there [indeed, we've found two arrowheads down by Hick's creekside cabin], but there's a NO TRESPASSING sign. So I haven't been able to look."
"That's for people who cut through on our gravel roads, or hang out and leave trash. Go ahead and park there to look for arrowheads. If anybody stops you, tell them you're my friend, and I gave you permission."
Even our stranger-quizzing neighbor should give him a pass if he mentions Hick.
Hick is something else! God bless him.
ReplyDeleteHick is DEFINITELY something else!
DeleteSo being an authorized person apparently means knowing Hick.
ReplyDeleteAccording to Hick...
DeleteHas Hick ever threatened to prosecute you? Well, no, you wouldn't be down by the creek. No pennies there.
ReplyDeleteMy Sweet Baboo wouldn't dare! Let the record show that I AM down by the creek every day to get the mail, and that I HAVE found pennies there! Perhaps my largest one-time haul ever!

I've seen people finding arrowheads in movies but never known any in (virtual) real life.
ReplyDeleteThe Little Future Veteran found one right after we bought the land, down by Hick's first cabin, the A-Frame. He was probably 8 or 9 years old then. Hick found the other one many years later, a little further down, when he was working on the next cabin. I think it's in his curio cabinet of curious treasures, behind the La-Z-Boy.
DeleteAfter there's been a lot of rain, and the creek has risen and receded, there's a chance something new has been uncovered or washed into that area.
And you wonder why you hear and see things in the basement? You are on Indian land. Arrow heads as proof positive.
ReplyDeleteBuddy, of Hick and Buddy's Badly Blacktopped Hill fame, found a CANNONBALL on his land. So there must have been some kind of skirmish around here.
DeleteThe headless man I saw in the basement was wearing a black suit, white shirt with standup collar, and black buttons.
The natives are getting restless, that's why you hear things that go bump in the night....
ReplyDeleteSomething has them stirred up. I blame The Pony and his Ouija dabbling from 490 miles away.
DeleteSigns are great, just remember that the perpetrators need to be able to read.
ReplyDeleteYes. And understand that the sign means EVERYBODY. Unless they have Hick's permission, of course...
